Creation Process

The Spheres and Touch Stones are made at the studio of Peter Viesnik in Auckland, when received the ashes are carefully stored on my premises until made and the unused portion returned to the customer upon completion.

Spheres:
The process involves carefully sifting the ashes to remove the larger particles, then commencing with the selected centre colour, a layer of molten clear glass is gathered from the furnace and the ashes are picked up together with the dichroic glass. Further layers of clear molten glass are added to build up the size and to give the Spheres dimensional depth.

The Spheres are cooled by a carefully controlled slow temperature drop to complete the annealing process and later the base is ground flat by using several graded diamond discs and lastly brought to a polish, which is a lengthy process. Finally the required details are engraved on the base.

Touch Stones:
These are made using the ash with a selected colour chips and are not ground and polished or engraved.

People wishing to view the making of their Sphere or Touch Stone are welcome to do so and to bring family or friends.
